Shannon Knight, MS, LMHC is a licensed mental health counselor and owner of Modern Counselor Inc. She specializes in working with teens, adults, and couples. She is dedicated to providing exceptionally thoughtful and collaborative counseling and therapy services throughout Tampa, FL.
Shannon completed her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Clinical Psychology from the Florida Institute of Technology, completed clinical training from the Medical University of South Carolina in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and is a certified domestic violence counselor in the state of California.

While Shannon specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders, relationship and self-esteem difficulties, the LGBTQ+ community, and gender identity in teens and adults, her clinical and professional experiences are diverse and span the United States. Shannon has traveled from coast-to-coast providing crisis intervention services, domestic violence counseling, correctional facility treatment and consultation, addiction treatment, psychotherapy research and training, intensive in-home therapy, and brief, solution-focused behavior modification services to individuals and families in need. Additionally, Shannon has extensive experience working with individuals and families who are experiencing difficulty adjusting to the many obstacles we are so often faced with throughout our lifetime.
